The Mannheimer Swartling Scholarship Programme in Russia

Mannheimer Swartling has been active on the Russian legal market for more than two decades, commencing operations during the Soviet era. The firm opened an office in Moscow in 1990, becoming the first European law firm in Russia. The firm has since many years had a co-operation with the Stockholm School of Economics, and in particular with its Russian branch SSE Russia with offices in St Petersburg and Moscow. “SSE Russia, in place since 20 years, offers a first-class Executive MBA programme, and we thought it would be ideal for a scholarship”, says Fredrik Svensson who is managing partner of Mannheimer Swartling’s office in Moscow. The so-called Mannheimer Swartling Scholarship Programme implies a grant covering 75% of the tuition fee for participation in the Executive MBA programme delivered by SSE Russia. The scholarship is open for a Russian professional or a Western professional with an interest in Russia. It is up for the admission board of SSE Russia to decide who receives the scholarship every year. The selection process is run without any involvement of Mannheimer Swartling and the suggested candidate is finally approved by the admission board of the Stockholm School of Economics. The Executive MBA programme, granting an SSE Executive MBA diploma, runs over a period of two years through fifteen five-days modules, to be delivered mostly at SSE Russia’s venues in St Petersburg and Moscow. “The programme of ours stands out through the way in which it combines a global vision of business with everyday Russian business realities”, says Anders Liljenberg, Dean at SSE Russia. Last year the scholarship was awarded to Natalia Korchemkina at LM Ericsson in Russia.
